What to Expect

We welcome you to visit us on Sunday mornings. We want you to feel comfortable at Starting Grounds Church, so we’ve outlined what you can expect when you visit.

There is ample parking surrounding the building.  Additional overflow parking is available in the parking lot behind the hair salon directly next to the church (North side).

Our People.

One word has always been used to describe Starting Grounds Church – friendly.  Our people are committed to hospitality and generosity.  When you visit, you will be sure to find people with smiling faces and open arms.

Service Times.

We have two identical services at 9:00 and 10:30.  We’d love for you to come early and enjoy a cup of coffee with us in our coffee shop, mingle with others and make new friends. Our coffee shop volunteers are here to help you feel welcomed and meet new people.

Children’s Church & Nursery.

Our goal is to teach children about the love of Jesus in an age-appropriate teaching style.
Children’s church is available at the 10:30 service
as follows:
: infant and toddler nurseries are available for children under age 3.
Preschool kids age 3 – 4
: Sign your child into the Preschool room before church begins. They will have their own worship (singing time) and a short Bible lesson with fun activities to follow.
Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
: Sign your child into their classroom before church begins.  They will have their own special worship (singing) time in their classroom, followed by a fun Bible lesson and craft or activity. Note: The first Sunday of the month, we have our K-2 class join is in big church for the worship time (songs) at the beginning of the service.  We love to have our younger kids join us once a month to sing loud and proud to God.
Grades 3rd – 5th: Your child will attend the beginning of church in the sanctuary with you, and worship (sing) with the congregation.  At the break, they will be dismissed their classroom.  If you are new, please let us know you have a child in this age range and we will be happy to assist you with finding their classroom.
Although we do not offer Children’s Church at the 9:00 am service, kids are always welcome to sit with their parents at our 9:00 service and we have activity sheets and crayons for your little ones if needed.
All of our teachers have undergone background checks and are teamed up with a classroom partner-helper.  Your child’s safety and security and is very important to us.  If you have questions about the Children’s Church program, please don’t hesitate to ask a teacher or the Children’s Director.

Our services are relaxed, engaging and generally last about an hour.  We open service with songs and prayer.  Lyrics are projected on screens at the front of the sanctuary.  Feel free to engage in this time in whatever manner you feel comfortable.  After this time, we take a short break to meet and greet one another and then sit down for the sermon which usually lasts 25 – 30 minutes.  Bible passages are also projected on the screens at the front of the sanctuary.  Additionally, hard-copy Bibles are available if you would like to use one.

We are committed to teaching about a dynamic life changing experience with Jesus.  We do this by teaching weekly from the Bible and connecting it to the practical aspects of daily life.  Don’t know much about the Bible?  Don’t worry.  Our goal is to make each sermon easy to understand and meaningful to all people – regardless of their church experience.

Our music is a blend of contemporary and traditional songs performed using acoustic instruments.  Lyrics are projected onto the screens at the front of the sanctuary for you to sing along. Feel free to stand or sit during worship (singing time), which ever makes you more comfortable. Feel free to sing loud for all to hear; we believe singing to the Lord is a sign of love and respect to Him. You don’t have to be a great singer to participate.

What to Wear.

Come as you are.  Most people come casually dressed just as you would see around town.
