Move-Up Sunday is Coming!

After an amazing summer of Bible Boot Camp VBS, Church in the Park, and a summer filled with the Fruits of the Spirit, our kids are heading back to school to meet new teachers and new friends.

This month our kids at Starting Grounds Church will have their own new start too!  On September 25th, we will have a MOVE-UP SUNDAY!

Here is how the classes will be set up:

  • Nursery will be open for newborns thru two year olds and led by Jordan.  She will be starting in our nursery this month.  In the nursery kids will sing songs, read Bible stories, color a picture to go along with their story, and have some fun playing.  Make sure to stop in and say “Hi” to Jordan as she is new here!
  • Preschool (3 years old and potty trained by the start of September) thru Kindergarten will meet in their current class with myself as teacher until another teacher(s) can be found.  I am looking forward to some more time with the preschool and Kindergarteners.  They always have so much energy and such a willingness to learn about God’s Word and what it means in their lives.  I look forward to Sunday mornings with them.
  • 1st thru 2nd grade will be taught by Janet Pickard in her current classroom.  I know that many of my Kindergarteners who are moving on to 1st grade are super excited to have Miss Janet as their teacher!  She is definitely a treasure of a teacher who loves all of the kids in our church with her whole heart.
  • 3rd thru 5th grade is our new class we will be adding!  Sandy Turney and Tara McArthur will be teaching our new class in the conference room that is off the coffee shop.  We are so thankful that Tara and Sandy have offered to teach this class, and we know that the kids will learn and grow so much in this coming school year.

Info about our new Second Service

When we move to two services in October, we will be holding Sunday School classes as listed above ONLY during the second service.  During the first service, children will be invited to join their families in worship.  During the remainder of service, kids who are 3 years old thru 3rd grade can join me in the preschool classroom for childcare.

VBS UPDATE-

Have you signed your kids up for VBS yet?  If not, please do so quickly!!

It will help immensely with our planning and volunteer recruiting if we have an idea of how many kids to expect.

VBS will be held August 1st thru the 5th and is open to all kids entering preschool thru fifth grade.

We will meet from 9am to 11:30am.

or by filling out a registration form at the VBS table in the lobby.

SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL –

We are continuing to learn the Fruits of the Spirit this month! In June, our classes learned how the Holy Spirit can help us to express LOVE and JOY.  For the month of July, we will learn about PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, and GOODNESS.  We will focus on a story from the Bible that shows us an example of each fruit of the spirit.

ONE MORE NOTE – WE ARE STILL SEEKING TEACHERS FOR THE FALL.  WE TRULY HAVE A NEED TO HAVE THREE CLASSES UP AND RUNNING BY THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TEACHING TWO SUNDAYS A MONTH, PLEASE COME TALK TO ME!

SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL –

Our Sunday school classes will be studying the Fruits of the Spirit throughout the summer.  This verse can be found in Galatians 5:22-23.  Each week we will look at one of the Fruits of the Spirit, talk about it in regards to your child’s life, read a Bible story that shows an example of each fruit, and play a game or craft.

April Newsletter ~

Easter season is in full swing in our classes this month!

As we had talked about at our Parent Information meeting, our classes will be making Resurrection Eggs this month.  Each Sunday our kids will add more pieces to their sets of eggs.  On Easter Sunday, each child will have a complete set of Resurrection Eggs and will be able to retell the whole Easter story.

If you have not yet signed up to be a parent helper in one of our classes, please see me.  We are looking to have parents help in our three classes (nursery, preschool and grade school) two times per year.  This will allow you to see what goes on in our classrooms, connect with your child’s learning, and help the teachers out by lending an extra hand!

We also have an Information sheet we would like all families to fill out.  This will allow our teachers to send out Birthday cards to all of the kids in our church, email you with updates/needs for Sunday School/family events/etc.  I have the info sheets for you to fill out if you haven’t done this yet.
