Pastor Mark

(pastor of compassionate ministries)

Mark Roskam loves people and with a big heart for the lost and disadvantaged, has had a range of great opportunities to serve.  After receiving his BA in Social Work, he worked at Bethesda Hospital – a psychiatric hospital in Denver, CO., where he learned amongst many other lessons “that but for the grace of GOD, so go I.”  After completing his Master’s degree from Denver Seminary, he served on pastoral staff over many years in two different local churches in Estes Park, CO.  He initiated a missional~incarnational outreach named “Riverplace ~ a Community Living Room” – which remains active today.

Mark and his wife of twenty years, Gini, have a blended family with three grown children and three grandchildren.  Their long distance courtship (1700 miles – just ask them!) led to marriage after the death of both their spouses in the 1990’s.  In 2010, Mark sensed GOD’s compelling to get out of the four walls of the traditional church, and accepted a position at Open House Ministries – a Christ-centered family shelter ministry in Vancouver, WA., where he currently serves as Chaplain.  Mark and Gini have attended Starting Grounds Church since 2010 and love life together as best friends.
